Dock levellers and dock plates

Standard and custom dock levellers and dock plates

G4 designs and supplies dock levellers and industrial loading bays for warehouses, plants and logistics hubs. Each solution is configured around the dock, the vehicles that pull up, the handling equipment and how often the bay is used.

A standard loading bay includes:

  • Dock leveller

    A steel bridging ramp, available in different sizes and capacities, that connects the warehouse floor to the vehicle bed. It can be manually operated or electrohydraulic;

  • Door

    The loading bay is closed by a door: a rigid sectional door or a lightweight PVC high-speed roll-up door;

  • Dock shelter

    A perimeter seal made of special rubber that adapts to the size of the truck to stop draughts and rain while the vehicle is docked. In temperature-controlled warehouses it also helps insulate the loading bay;

  • Accessories and safety:

    Loading bays are completed with safety systems and accessories, including:

    • Rubber dock bumpers: elastic buffers that stop the vehicle being damaged while manoeuvring.
    • Traffic lights: tell the driver when the operator is ready to dock;
    • Wheel guides: strong steel tubes that guide the vehicle to the exact position in front of the dock leveller.

ELECTROHYDRAULIC DOCK LEVELLERS

They bridge the height difference between the dock and the vehicle bed so pallet trucks and forklifts can cross during loading and unloading.

Case study: 15-tonne manual ramp for ground-level containers

The problem. When a container sits on the ground rather than on a truck, the forklift still has to drive in to load and unload it.

The solution. A manual dock plate that bridges the floor to the container floor and lets the forklift drive inside. It is particularly heavy-duty, designed to carry up to 15 tonnes, so it can take loaded forklifts driving across it.

  • Capacity: 15,000 kg
  • Anti-slip chequer plate deck with marked edges
  • Reinforced lip on the container side

Mini manual dock levellers: 6 tonnes in a small footprint

Where an electrohydraulic leveller would be oversized, or there is little space at the dock edge, we install our mini manual dock levellers. They are fixed to the face of the existing dock: no need to cut a pit into the dock, and they take up very little space.

Lifting is assisted by pneumatic cylinders, so the operator moves them with no effort. We have fitted them along entire rows of bays, in different colours and configurations depending on the customer.

  • Capacity: 6,000 kg
  • Small footprint, mounted on the dock face
  • Lifting with pneumatic cylinders
